Ma Zhong is Deputy Director at iGDP. He is also Professor at
the School of Environment and Natural Resources, Renmin University of
China.
Prof. Ma is the leading scholar in China in researching and
implementing environmental economics and policies. He has worked
extensively with government and international agencies on a variety of research
topics in China and has been engaged in national and international environmental
policymaking on topics such as environmental finance and taxation, the Montreal
Protocol, SO2 emission trading, and water pricing. In the past ten years, he
also has been working on the institutional reform of environmental
administration in China. Prof. Ma serves as senior advisor to the China
Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) as well as of different provincial
governments, and is a member of the China Council for International Cooperation
of Environment and Development (CCICED). In 2009, Ma Zhong was awarded China’s
Annual “Green Person” award.
